Bhagavad Gita · Chapter 3 · The Yoga of Action

Where Does Your Power Live?

Arjuna believed he was powerless — that the outcomes were already written. Krishna's answer is the heart of the Gita: act fully, own your effort completely, and release your grip on what follows. This inquiry reveals where you locate your power — and whether that location is serving you.

The Three Patterns
  • Internal — Power lives in your effort and choices.
Strong agency, deep ownership — sometimes shading into the belief that everything is your fault.
  • External — Power lives in circumstances, others, or fate.
Can feel like helplessness or genuine spiritual acceptance — the difference matters enormously.
  • Surrendered — The Gita's third position.
Full ownership of action, full release of outcome. Nishkama Karma — the rarest and most mature pattern.
"The question is not whether you have power. It is whether you know where you have placed it."
